Link Love #2

This weeks Link Love is mostly about little things I've found which I thought were cool or interesting, things I want to try out for myself. All the pictures link back to the source, I'm not sure if I've mentioned that in the past Link Love post. I like making these posts since I tend to keep every window open of things I like for a long, long time! (Which leads to bad laptop habits! Oops) Or I save everything under my bookmarks bar which is crazy, I attempted to organise it a few months back whilst procrastinating from doing uni work and it didn't really work out! Anyway onto the inspiration!

These paper flowers are pretty darn cool. They're made from post it notes and the instructions look simple enough to do so I want to give this a go! As soon as I find my post it notes!

Since I've failed with one of my resolutions about to-do lists, I saw this (from the wall street journal, I was just googling lists, yes I know I'm sad) and thought it was very interesting, and its also a list of seven things! I haven't attempted anymore lists since I know right now I'll just fail them all, so hopefully following most or all of this advice will work for me.

Galadarlings list of 100 things to do when you're upset. The photo links to the post, but is taken from her most recent outfit post which you should also go check out. Oh and check out the rest of her blog while you're at it, very inspiring.

A very good list of things to do to improve your blog. I've done some but not all and I think its a good idea to check out whether you've been blogging for a week or five years.

How cute is that illustration? Well, click on it to type out sentences using llama font, where you'll find really cute llamas making letters with their bodies, its kinda adorable *squee* And thats it for this week's inspiration post!

Tis the season to be Jolly

Fa la la la la la la la!

I went to a Christmas Meal the other day and got very, very jolly! My camera died after taking about five pictures, and they were a bit blurry, but I am still not going to get a new camera until it dies completely! Since it seems I just brake them all the time :( Other people took loads of photos, but most of them are terrible haha, it was good fun. The tables were nicely decorated, hence the above photo, I do love me some ornaments in large glass bowls (I really want a glass bowl, yes I'm sad) and crackers! Lots of people were told off when they tried opening them before food haha, there were above 50 odd people so it was very cosy.

We had table "competitions", well not really but to see who could sing the loudest and toast the most etc. I didn't really eat that much, I had tomato soup and bread which was lush, then there were only two vegetarian options and I hate mushroom so I opted for a goats cheese tart. Except I didn't realise it had cranberry sauce on it, which I hate, I am the fussiest eater ever! The salad and potatoes were super sweet, with a horrible sweet dressing yeuch, and I don't like salad either. I took a few parsnips, carrots and potatoes from the side dishes and left the rest. The desert was nice, orange and chocolate cheesecake, but I didn't expect there to be bits of orange in it, I know, stupid of me, and guess what, I hate oranges too! I like the orange flavoured things just not the fruit, like strawberries and onions.

Then it was Secret Santa! The idea was if you brought a present you'd get one, no names of anything. I bought a sheep teddy bear, and made a tag about his details, and a "hand drawn" card by the sheep. What I got in return was a..... booby mug. Yes it was a mug in the shape of a boob with a hole and all! Not the greatest haha. I ended up leaving it there anyways.

Anyways it was a fun night and very Christmassy! Lots of hats, from crackers and home made or costume (since it was a drama event!) old cheesy music, and cracker fights! I might update what I wore here or in another post, or draw it, but now I have to dash, gotta go to work! I can't wait for Christmas eeek!

Britain in a Day

Did anyone watch a film called Life in a Day? It was in the cinema a few months ago, and most recently on BBC 2, which you can still watch online here, last day to see it there though sorry. If you haven't watched it, you should! I went to see it in the cinema, and watched about an hour of it when it was on TV, I would have watched more but missed the start and had to leave before it finished. It's amazing. Basically, it shows little snippets of peoples lives across the world, all on the same day, the 24th of July 2010. It is so interesting, and I remembered quite a lot of it when I re-watched some of it, asking my brother if certain people had come up yet. I remember thinking when it came out that I wished I had participated in it too. I'd probably not get any of my footage shown, there was so much footage, but it would be fun!

Now, here's my chance! And yours too if you want to. The BBC are doing a project called Britain in a Day, you can find out about it here. They want people to film their lives on the 12th of November and send it in to their youtube channel here. I'm really excited about this, have no clue what I'm going to, will try to rope in my boyfriend, and am glad I'm only working a short shift on Saturday, maybe I could film there too? I know it's not much notice, but I only just saw it on the TV now, and ran upstairs to check it out!

If you're still not sure, watch this video :D

I won!

It was my staff awards to yesterday night and the second one I've been too. Last year we had a school disco party in a club, but we're not allowed to have alcoholic events anymore do to complaints, under 18 staff and the fact that there's always drama. (There was drama anyway, since people went drinking afterwards).

Anyway! I helped sort out the awards, I got those cute little trophies (sorry for the picture quality, it's off my bf's phone), and stuck labels on them, and people voted me for the "Biggest Clumsy Fool"! Yay! I was going for that one :D I didn't win anything last year, and half put that category in to see if I'd win lol, I am always injuring myself. I did on Halloween, by cutting my arm on my dress of all things, not whilst pumpkin carving haha (my boyfriend was actually really worried about me carving the thing!).

It was lots of fun, despite working before hand, and the stress of trying to sort out the awards and certificates before meeting everyone.  Bowling wise, I am atrocious though! But I did get better in the end though, but we had the sides up :P

P.s This is also the second post for NaBloPoMo out of thirty days.

All Hallows Eve

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween! I went over my boyfriends brother's house, it was fun! I went as a witch. I had a velvet dress, sparkly tights, a cloak, hat and a broom. I couldn't drink though since I was driving and working today, but I still felt hungover and tired, not fair. Anyway here are a few pictures.

There was pumpkin carving. It was my first time carving one ever! I can now cross that off my day zero list.

My boyfriends pumpkins on the left, and mines on the right.  Not too bad if I say so myself, but remember it was my first attempt! I'll try doing one each year :)

There were vodka jelly shots, which were gross! We played a weird version of snap, and I was going to drink just one to try since I was driving, but couldn't even handle half of one!

There was even apple bobbing! And would you believe I've never done that before either? The water was icy cold, and the water was murky by the time it was my go (because of everyones face paints) but I got it damn it! A very proud moment haha! All in all, it was a very fun Halloween, and I can't wait for next year!

P.s! I'm going to try to blog every day for the month of November for Nablopomo (National Blog Posting Month) aswell as participate in Nanowrimo (National Writing Month). It'll be my fourth year Nanowrimoing, and my first year Nanoblomoing, should be fun! I have no clue what to do for either but will do a post on both sometime when I have more time, off to my staff awards party, so no time to write tonight, oops.

Races

I went to the races on Sunday for the first time, for my boyfriends brothers birthday. It was very foggy, windy and drizzly and we were outside for over four hours! But it was fun.

They even had owls there! I took a few photos, but this was one of the only ones who posed. I love Barn Owls, they remind me of Hedwig from Harry Potter. Oh that reminds me, I once held baby Indian owls, they were so cute, I should put the photos up one day.

There were a lot of people, some were very dressed up, some were very casual. I like to think I was sortof in the middle but I dressed for warmth. But I wore leggings, as did the other girls in the group, never again! Must wear jeggins when it cold out!

My first bid. I kept saying I was voting on horses instead of betting >.< I know, I know. I didn't win anything then, but out of the eight races, I won twice, (well, in the top three once, and won once). I only won about £14 in total, and lost more than that, but it was fun, and addictive! My boyfriend won over £70 on once race and he was set, lucky devil! lol.

Some horses, it was fun wondering who would win, but hard to remember which horse was which on their jackets. The ones I seemed to bet on, always had other jockeys wearing similar colours.

One of my horses that I bet on didn't even finish.... he freaked out before the start of the race. I found out then though, that if you just show up for the race, you get £100 and it doesn't matter where you come or if you finish, so that's why the made him run.

One last picture just to show how foggy it was, it was a bit surreal, reminded me of the film Silent Hill (I haven't played the game) where the fog is everywhere. It was a fun day and I'd go again, but preferbly when its warmer and I'd limit my betting, at least it was only small bets eh?
