Glossy Box vs She Said Beauty

Sorry I kind of took a little blogging break there! I tend to do that every now and then, but not on purpose, oops. I really need to work on that, sorry! I've not even been that busy or anything and I've had a few post ideas too so I don't know what I was doing. I meant to post this Glossy Box Vs She Said Beauty box review last month (it's already August, where did July go?) but I never got round to it. I got the She Said Beauty Box at the start of the month (my first one) and the Glossy Box at the end of the month so it wasn't really the best timing but I wanted to compare the two boxes in the same post, rather than do two separate posts if you get what I mean? I'm going to carry on getting the two boxes for another two months and then maybe pick one to get or try out some others, I don't know yet. And as for the format I might compare them each month, or do two separate posts.

I've been with Glossy Box since last year, and while it has been awesome, I wanted to try out other boxes since I while I loved Glossy Box, I wasn't in love with Glossy Box anymore. However since Glossy Box was my first Beauty subscription box, I didn't want to quit outright and wanted to compare it with other Beauty subscription boxes. I swear I'll start to compare them now, but remember this is for July not for August.

Okay so starting with the small stuff, price, delivery's and packaging! With Glossy Box (GB)  it's £10 p/m + p&p which is about £12.95 and She Said Beauty (SSB) is only £9 p/m + p&p which works out to be about £11.95, so price wise SSB wins! (Side note: For the first box SSB I used a code, meaning I paid £9 in total but full price for this months box). With the delivery's as I already mentioned GB sends it out at the end of the month and SSB sends them out at the start of the month. Now onto packaging, GB comes in a black box with the logo stamped all over in Pink, whereas SSB comes in a bright hot pink box which is very noticeable! For the actual boxes GB usually comes in a pale pink box with a separate lid, but for special boxes they do change the colour sometimes. SSB comes in a pretty turquoise box with a subtle pattern as you can see above, but it doesn't have a separate lid which I wished it did, but its okay as a fold-able type of lid. Both boxes have little cards with the info and sometimes extra little cards for specific infomation, and both have little straw? like pieces inside which is pretty but annoying, and SSB has less than GB which some may dislike but I prefer as that stuff gets everywhere in my room!

Debenhams reward card. Time Release Blemish Cleaner. Honey Moisteriser.  Ice Crystals Anti Aging Prep & Polish. Eden Natural Polish Remover. Love Phat Liner. S-File.
SSB came with 5 items, with an extra in the form of a Debenhams beauty reward card. While its a nice touch, I already have one and with an extra lost one!

Time Release Blemish Cleaner by Murad is okay, it helps my skin a bit but I have horrible skin and I'm a bit wary of using this as it also claims to battle wrinkles. I can't remember where I read/heard this information, but I heard you shouldn't use anti aging products until you need to use them as it can cause damage? I really should look this up, but this knowledge whether its true or not keeps me away from anti aging products and I tend to give any products to my mum as I don't have wrinkles.

Honey Moisteriser by LaylaD Natural Beauty is amazing. I've been using it as a hand cream since my hands get super dry really quickly, and it keeps them feeling soft and hydrated and smells of honey too which is a bonus. I love the smell of honey, even if I don't like the taste.

Ice Crystals Anti Aging Prep & Polish by Freeze 247 is another product I've not really used much of because its anti aging. It does help make my skin feel soft but apart from that I can't really say anything about it.

Eden Natural Polish Remover by Fresh Therapies was too small of a sample! It removed the polish after awhile, but I don't really like liquid polish removers as it takes forever, and I like to use polish remover pad things, or those pots you dip your fingers in and twist.

Love Phat Liner by Miners Cosmetics is amazing! I love, love, LOVE this product and use it every day. I will definitely be buying it when I run out as its only £3.99 (but right now its only £1.99 on the website!) I'd actually just lost my previous eyeliner which I loved from Accessorize and then my replacement one from Boots  straight afterwards. I find most eyeliners don't stay on my eyes for long, but this one does, and its really easy to use and when sharpened I don't poke my eye out like I sometimes do with others as I am clumsy and stupid. It can be used as a liner, definer and all over eye pencil too which I haven't done just yet, but if you guys want to, go ahead!

S-File by Stylfile was created by a The Apprentice Winner apparently? IDK I don't really watch it apart from the off episode here or there, but there was a card mentioning it with the box. I was hoping I'd get this in my box though from seeing other reviews and sneak peeks as I'm growing my nails out and needed a nice and lovely file. It's fun and easy to use, following the shape of your nails and I use this all the time.

My favourite SSB product from July, the Love Phat Liner!

Colour & Care Shampoo. Monu Golden Glow. Jelly Pong Lip Frosting. Skin Balancing Lotion.
HD Brows, Eye & Brow Palette. Skin Balancing Kit.
July's GB also came with 5 items, with an extra item added in too. They do give extra items out every now and then, and the extra for this months (Skin Balancing Kit) was better than the SSB box of a reward card. GB also has themes for boxes, with this months being "Festival Glam". Now I can see the uses for some of the products in a festival, but it doesn't seem like a festival box to me. I'd rather see a good moisturiser, mini spray, fun make up etc.

Enrich Colour Shampoo by Clynol Salon Exclusive is meant to be a shampoo for coloured hair with UV filtres to protect your hair from fading. I'm growing my hair dye out so the top of my hair is my natural colour and the ends are faded. I decided to use it anyway, and it left my hair looking really greasy on the non dyed parts so I'm not sure if I'll use this again until I dye my hair again.

Golden Glow by Monu is a good moisturiser like I mentioned above, and comes in handy considering the sun is barely out lately and does gradually build a small tan. However the product I'm currently using does a better job, (some cheap Sweedish stuff I got from Buyology) but it does smell better than the cheap stuff!

Lip Frosting by Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics smells amazing! I want to eat it all up, but don't worry I won't. It comes out in a dark pink colour which looks nicer on your lips, with a subtle shine and isn't too sticky, I hate sticky lip glosses. It's also a decent amount for a lip gloss and now lives in my purse.

Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion and Line Kit by Elizabeth Arden is a small product but has more in it than you think it would. I've actually lost it so only used it for a few days but it was like most other moisturisers I've used, leaving my skin feeling soft, I just need to find it to use it again. Now with the Kit I enjoyed using them but they were small smaples so only used them once. The kit came with a exfoliating cleanser, skin serum and sachet of the lotion. They left my skin feeling fresh and soft, but I didn't notice any other effects after only using it once, but it was a nice extra product.

Brows Eye and Brow Pallete by HD Brows is something I'm really glad I got. I've been meaning to try a brow kit for awhile, but never felt like I really needed one so haven't bought one. When I got it in this box, I thought, this is why I started to subscribe in the first place, to try out products I wouldn't usually buy. It's a bit too dark for my hair colour, but I use the lighter shades to fill in my brows. I'm only a beginner though so I need some more practice with it as I've accidentally put too much on before, oops. It's fun to use though and I hope I get the use of it and will probably use it quite a lot in the future!

And that's the end of the product reviews finally! I hope I didn't bore you, it actually took me aaages to write this post. To compare the two boxes, neither was amazing, but they both had a product which I loved with SSB's Love Phat Liner and GB's HD Brows kit. GB's product was more expensive so better value for my money, but SSB's product is something I use every day whereas with GB's product I'll use every now and then, but probably on nights out unless I get the hang of it. Overall I think GB was better this month, but only marginally so, so we'll see how August boxes are!

Back to normal Glossy Box for June?

Nothing special this month so we're back to the normal standard Glossy Box. I have received more limited edition boxes since I signed up, but now I'm about even so I was a bit surprised but also glad, since I want more pale pink boxes for re-purposing! I was excited as ever when I opened my box and the weather was nice and sunny for the photos! I've tried out all of the products today (when it's rainy) and thought I'd do the review early on, instead of at the end of the month since that's usually how long it takes me to try everything out!

As you can see it's the normal standard packaging, but I think the info card changes a lot anyway.

At first glance I was thinking "Where is everything?!" I did actually think they'd forgotten, since I've had a missing item before, but after a bit of using my hands and my eyes I found all five products. I have to say that this box didn't really 'wow' me, sure there were nice things but compared to other boxes that I've loved in the past I wasn't too enthusiastic about it.

Above are all of the products. There was a Clean Start by Dermalogica kit and a Vichy Dermablend Start kit which I'll review afterwards since I have close up shots of just those. Included in this box were three small items that were hidden at first. These were  -

A Glossy Box Serie Exclusiv Pro Beauty Brush - Wow what a mouthful to say! And for something so simple, a make up brush! I'd have rather this had been an extra like the mirror in the last box, but I don't usually use make up brushes except for blusher and eyeshadow which usually come with their own brushes. I did use it with the bronzer but it was too big and I got bronzer everywhere ooops. Anyway I can't really review it since I have no knowledge of other brushes, so it'll do? If I use it, and use it properly (I am a make up noob!)

BM Beauty Summer Warmth Bronzer - Okay so at first I was really excited thinking this was another eye shadow powder by the same company, as I really enjoyed the last colour and use it quite a lot. However I saw it was bronzer and I don't really use bronzer, and I guess I don't really know how? I tried some on today with the brush and I put too much on and looked a bit like a clown, especially against my pale skin. Loads of it went on with one sweep, after shaking the excess off so it should be good if I learn how to use it properly.

Yves Rocher France Mini Mascara ultra-volume Sexy Pulp - At first glance, I thought this was a perfume sample since it was about the same size, aka, tiny! I didn't have high expectations of it since it's so small, but I actually liked the end result. The brush is really thick and curvy and easy to use. Most mascara's can clump my eyelashes together but this seperated them easily and it wasn't too thick but made them look longer. So I like, but wish it was bigger. We've had full sizes before from Glossy Box, but also the smaller samples are usually bigger. So the size was a let down, but then I have enough mascara to last me awhile thanks to Glossy Box anyway.

Vichy Dermablend Ultra-Corrective Foundation Cream Stick - The look of this confused me but intrigued me as I have terrible skin (and making a doctors appointment is so hard with its stupid system!). When I read it it seemed easier and I gave it a go. I didn't blend any colours but used the porcelain shade which did help cover my skin but I'd rather have a stick to use than the little patches of the stuff. I'll see how long it lasts today but it looks promising.

Clean Start By Dermalogica Day/Night 3-step kit - I really like the simple packaging and that they're all meant to compliment each other. I usually use simple products, but used this kit today. The face wash smelt nice but I couldn't place the smell and didn't irritate my skin but left it feeling fresh and clean and I really enjoyed the all over clear mist spray thing. It was fun to use and is meant to help stop shine and keep breakouts way, we'll see misty spray, we'll see. I didn't particularly like the smell of that one but it wasn't that noticeable. The third step of this kit is the moisturiser which was creamy and easy to use, just like my usual moisturiser. You're meant to use the first two day and night, and the third just in the day so seeing as this is the first day, I'll have to see how it goes but it also looks promising.

So that was my review of June's Glossy Box, and I wasn't the greatest fan, it was okay, but I've been very tempted to try other boxes, so I might do that for say two months and decide which one I like best as I can't really afford to have two different beauty subscription boxes. However I have loved Glossy Box in the past, so I do actually feel guilty thinking about other boxes and it was my first beauty box, oh the dilema!

What's in May's Glossy Box?

Wow I haven't really posted in awhile, sorry! (Edit: Just realised it's only been like three days! Ha! Feels much longer!) I know I've left longer gaps before but I'm trying to blog consistently now and I've been busy working (late closes this week) or enjoying the Sun! While it lasted anyway, its back to being cloudy Swansea now :(. So! I thought it was about time to review May's Glossy Box! While it was still May, and today is the last day to do it! I actually took these photos when I got my box, but waited till I tried everything first. So here we go!

Since Glossy Box were celebrating their first birthday, they included a few extra things with the box, in it's normal box (pale pink) but decorated the paper with make up and cupcakes, which is cute. They've also been doing competitions on their facebook page every day, which I didn't really take advantage of, oh well.

This is what the inside of the box looked, I didn't include the info card that always comes with it though. I was really excited when I saw what was inside, they'd given me eight! (or nine even) items instead of five!

They'd given me two perfume samples, two face masks, a mirror, balloon, false eyelashes, hair oil and body wash! All in one box, I love birthday boxes! <3 I think its safe to say I loved this box more than Aprils!

Lolita Lempricka, Eau de Parfum & Si Lolita - The Eau de Parfume was a fresh floral scent while the Si Lolita was more spicy. I liked both of them, and loved the packaging, it was cute, but I think I'll be asking for the Eau de Parfum for Christmas!

Osmo, Berber Oil Hair Treatment - I tried this on both wet and dry hair and have liked both results. It comes in a thick tinted red oil, and you barely need anything for your hair. I made the mistake of putting to much in but you only need a little. It makes your hair feel soft, and it doesn't look greasy or wet or anything like you think it would. When I put it on dry hair it also helped smooth it down and it had a lovely scent to it.

Nobel Isle, Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel - This reminded me of previous bath products, like the Molton Brown shower gel from March's Harrods Box with the quality and the packaging. It was thick and luxurious, and really did smell like Summer!

Apivta, Express Beauty Masks - Hmm not so sure on these. I'm not sure if I did it correctly, but it was interesting. I had it in Honey and the mask was thick and creamy. I put it on my face and it didn't really do anything except maybe heat up (but I had just come out of a shower on a warm day, so might have just been me!) It just stayed a sticky mess on my face, and didn't really feel like a face mask to me. But it did make my skin feel nice afterwards.

Eldora, False Eyelashes - These are the only things I haven't tried yet, as I am rubbish with false eyelashes. I have about three pairs but I've never worn them out! They look really nice though, I know they come in different styles and I had thick lashes with black diamante's on the lash line, but they're subtle. It does come with glue, and I am going to try these on Saturday which is my boyfriends birthday/Uni Society awards event, so fingers crossed they'll stay on!

And as I mentioned above I had a Balloon which I blew up sometime after these photos and a mirror which now lives in my bag! Oh and before I forget, they also give us a free Parisian shopper bag if you buy any Lolita Lempicka purchase of 50ml+ while stocks last if you pop into House or Fraser online or in store. I don't have any money to buy perfume atm so I'll have to give that one a miss sadly. Though I really am tempted since the bag looks lovely.

Aprils Natural Beauty Box

Okay so lets pretend its not the middle of May and I was doing this in April yes? But it did come at the end of the month so its not like I've left it weeks and weeks and... oh wait I sort of did but never mind. There's loads of these reviews anyways, but I still like posting them :) Aprils came a few days after my birthday so I liked opening things all week, including presents and my blog swap package :D This month we had another limited edition type box, and the theme this time was for everything to be Natural. I liked the idea, and the box came in a plain brown box instead of the usual black with pink, and to be honest I think they could stick with the brown box rather than printing if they really want to make a difference. Then the glossy box itself was a biodegradable one but still cute. It's not pink like in my above picture (Instagram filter) but a creamy beige colour and it reminds me of wedding stationary type of things, do you know what I mean?

Inside came a Figs and Rouge lipbalm in Rambling Rose. Figs and Rouge are everywhere at the moment, and I can see why! I didn't particularly like the smell (Rose isn't my favourite scents) but I love the consistency and texture. It's so soft and a bit rough but smooth at the same time. I know that doesn't make sense but it feels lovely and I'm scared it'll all be gone soon the amount I use lipbalm. Plus, its multipurpose to meaning you can use it on dry skin, cuticals etc and I love multipurpose things!

I also had a small Kai perfume oil sample. You dab onto your pulse points instead of spraying and again not a huge fan of the scent but its not that strong. It reminds me of something my nana wears so I feel a bit like a granny wearing it tbh.

The Caudalie Thirst Quenching Serum was okay but I've not used it enough to see if it works. I am going to try it every day to see if I see any improvements on my dry skin. Its easy to use, but the consistency is a bit runny, doesn't aggravate or sting my skin and unlike the other two products I don't mind the scent! There is a faint scent but I can't really pick it up.

I had Body wash by Ayuuri in Coconut. I love the smell of coconut so loved this one! However I had like a MILLION bath and body products for my birthday and still have some left over from Christmas so haven't got round to using it yet, but it smells nice so I can't wait.

And last but not least I got the Inika Cosmetics eyeliner in purple. Its a really nice colour and very good staying quality for a natural product, I don't know why but I expected it to not be that great. I've started branching out into wearing different eye coloured make up so its a bit fun since my other eyeliners are black, brown and teal.

Overall its not been the best box but still some lovely things. As I always say to people even if you only love one or two things it's still worth it. If you're interested in getting a Glossy Box it's £10 a month not including delivery which is just under £3 I think. It's fun to get every month and is a present from me to me!

February's Glossy Box

Wow I'm on a blogging roll! Three blog posts so soon after the other? What madness is this?! Anyway here's a quick review of the February Glossy Box above since I never got round to that, oops!

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm - Um... this confuses me, I've used it a bit but I've not really seen any improvements but maybe I'm not using it enough or correctly?

Dr Bronner Magic Liquid Soap - Oh I do like this one but then again I do like lots of wash things. However much I like all the bath and wash stuff they send, I would like to see a little bit more of other stuff, yaknow?

Como Shambhala Invigorate Body Lotion - This smells lovely, and I really like using it, it makes me skin feel very soft.

Duwop Venom Gloss - I love this, its like Soap and Glorys Sexy Motherpucker lip gloss. I love the tingly feeling , the smells and the colour. It's also small enough to pop in my tiny bags on a night out.

BM Beauty Pure Mineral Eyeshadow - I like the colour but I'm not that good at applying powder eyeshadow since I tend to get it all over my face. I fail at make up!

So it was an okay Glossy Box, not my favourite but Marchs Harrods Glossy Box was pure awesomeness! I would review it here too but I'm running out of time, I'm always late for something! So until next time, adios!

The Valentines Glossy Box (#3)

It's a little late, but here is my review of my January Glossy Box. Again, like the others, I LOVE it, it might just be my favourite! I hope each month I love each box as I've done with the last three. Anyway, since this was the Glossy Box we'd be getting before Valentines day, it made sense for it to be the Valentine edition! It's hot pink and filled with lovely goodies as usual and a special Valentines day treat. I know I'm not the best with reviews but I did really like this box and I think its worth the money to get every month.

Inside there was a card explaining about a romantic trip to Paris that could be won, which I entered *fingers crossed) and I thought it was cute that instead of their usual sticker they used a heart, aww.

The contents of the box! A bit messy since I did have a rummage through before I took a picture.

We have from left to right:-

Davines Authentic Formulas Moisturizing Balm - This is my favourite from this months box, it is so soft! I like that its multipurpose, so I can use it on my hair, face and body. When this runs out I will definitely buy it.

Davines Authentic Formulas Cleansing Nectar - This okay, I like how it reminds me of honey to look at, even though I don't really like honey, I know, weird!

Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting Primer, Dewy - This is my second favourite, I've been using it under powder and it helps make my skin feel smoother and despite looking a bit dark, it blends in so it should suit all skin tones.

FAB Gentle Body Wash - I've received the face cleanser in a past box which I liked so its nice to have a body version. I like to use the same products for my face and body if I can.

Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner - I've wanted to try Eyeko products for awhile but haven't gotten around to it yet. The quality is good, but the colour is too light for me so I'll probably rehome it to a friend who will actually use it.

and a little sweet that says glossybox on it and a heart, nom!

The Christmas Glossy Box Review (#2)

I know, it's only been a few posts ago since my last glossybox review, but I got them about a week apart since I subscribed at the end of November. They usually send them out mid month, so it will be awhile since I write the next review, promise! And I promise I'll do a Christmas post tomorrow! It involves stocking fillers! Anywho, back to glossybox. I had a few parcels that morning, some Christmas presents and two from glossybox! Yay! I couldn't wait to rip them open but decided to document it properly this time, in case anyone is really interested about the little things. Above is the box it comes in, and since I missed out on a product last time, they sent it in a small envelope. I'm not sure if they arrived at the same time, since I was over my boyfriends, but when I came home there they both were!

This months Christmas glossybox was red! Very Christmassy! Is it sad that I'm super excited to build up my collection of pretty boxes? Yes, no? I can put things in them! And to put presents in them the future.

The inside of the box, plus it comes with a card with the product information on, and an advert for the mens glossy box, I like the idea of maybe getting one for my boyfriend, but I'm not sure how into it he'd be. The information card is printed on both sides and obviously has the products you have on it, which isn't the same for everyone.

All the things! I also added what they missed out on my last glossy box which was the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer for your hair. I'm quite impressed with how they fit everything in, since I could but not prettily after I'd taken them all out, and my mum had a look and couldn't put them back in neatly lol. I was really excited with this box as I needed a few of these products, and half of them I used in the shower straight away!

And now onto the product reviews!

Cargo Cosmetics Classic Lip Gloss - I'm not entirely sure what shade it is and I'm not the biggest fan of lip glosses. I tend to just think they're messy and sticky and get everywhere. It is a nice colour, and not too messy so I'll have to try it out for a Christmas do. One thing which would have been nice if it smelled nice, this doesn't smell of anything so if I do buy lipglosses, I have to want to eat it (which I don't :P ).

Deborah Lippmann Nail Varnish - Shade Razzle dazzle. It says it a mini version which is rather cute, and still an okay size. I love the colour! It's so cute and sparkly! I haven't tried it on yet, as I've been working and can't wear nail varnish. It also came with nail varnish remover wipes, which is a neat little idea to pop in a bag, so I might try it on and quickly wipe them off before I have work, as long as I have a few days off, otherwise it's a bit of a waste.

Fab Face Cleanser - I really like the packaging, it reminds me if a vintagey type of circus if that makes sense? I've needed to get a new cleanser lately as I've been stealing bits of my brothers haha! I've only used it the once so I don't know how well it works, but it's mild so no allergic reactions or anything which is good!

Nouvea Lashes Noir Mascara - Love! I've been wearing it for the past two days and it's lovely, not too clumpy and glunky. When I first put it on however, I rubbed my eye a bit, not straight after and it smudged, it takes a bit longer than I'm used to to dry that's all.

Rituals Foaming Shower Gel - I couldn't wait to try this out! It smelt so lovely, and I accidentally used a bit too much and it was like foam city in the shower! You only need a little bit, I was expecting it to come out really foamy straight away and it didn't, so when I lathered it up, it went a bit crazy!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer - I'm not really sure what this is! It says it does good stuff for your hair, adds elasticity, manageability, bounce and shine. You use it before shampooing and I guess I need to use it a bit more to see results after its dry. It felt nice, but my hairs really long so I had to use a fair bit to cover it, unless I'm doing it wrong? But my hair needs all the help it can get so I will keep using it! It was meant to come in last months box, and the customer service was really good and they sent it out really quickly so I wasn't too fussed.

All in all, I liked this box better than last month, and can't wait for next months to arrive! Eeek!

Glossy Box (#1)

My first glossy box arrived the other day! Glossy box is where you subscribe £10 each month plus p&p to get a box filled with five sample products of beauty products. I was sooo excited to get it. I bought the November one on the last day of November, and haven't been home for a few days so I don't know when it actually arrived lol. The cardboard box it came in was cute, I love packaging but thought taking a picture of that might be a bit too much crazy, you know? It's the same design as the inside of the box which you can just about see in the picture below. I really like the packaging of this product, simple, pretty, and the colours go well together. I also like collecting pretty boxes to put things in, so will definitely be reusing this box for makeup and such.

I took this photo after I'd already opened it, so the ribbon was much better the first time around, and it has a sticker, stickers are always good in my book, oh and tissue paper. Bored of the packing now? Okay, onto the products!

From left to right, I had the Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps in Polka dot. Illamasqua Freak Eau De Parfum, Arbonne Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme and Silderm Body Oil. I was missing one item, the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Shampoo, but I tweeted GlossyBox and they told me to email them to sort it out, so fingers crossed.

I loved the nail wraps, but my nails a bit too short for them at the moment, unless I chop them in half! (I watched Dream House the other day and chewed them all off, darn scary films). The perfumes nice, but a bit too strong, I tend to like sweeter floral scents, but will be using this tonight as I'm going to a 1940's party. I love hand creme, and I LOVED this one. I only needed a small amount for my hands and its really soft and creamy and lasts longer than my usual, which okay is Tesco but I go through so much I can't afford normal priced hand cremes :P The last one is something I've never tried before but have wanted to, but never really wanted to buy it as its expensive and there's no real need, I just have a tiny few but I'll see if it works.

Overall, loved the box! I just had one complaint, the missing shampoo, but they replied to me straight away and hopefully it'll get sorted out soon. I am very excited about the Christmas one and can't wait to see what's in that!

Update! They are sending me one, yay!
